🦈 How to Use Nunchis

Everything you need for life in Korea — from useful information to meeting new people

Welcome to Nunchis.

Nunchis is a community and information hub for foreigners who live, study, work, or travel in Korea.

Our goal is to make it easier to find useful information, share real experiences, discover things to do, and connect with people in Korea — all in one place.

From visas and housing to food, travel, everyday life, events, language exchange, photos, and meetups, you can find different spaces for different parts of life in Korea.

If you’re new here, this guide will help you find where to start.

🤝 JOIN ME

Find people to do things with

JOIN ME is a space for finding people to do something together in Korea.

Looking for someone to grab coffee with?
Want to hang out this weekend?
Need a language exchange partner?
Planning to visit a festival, explore a neighborhood, eat somewhere, or just find someone to join you?

That’s what JOIN ME is for.

You can browse categories such as TODAY, WEEKEND, LANGUAGE EXCHANGE, and TAG ALONG to find people with similar plans.

JOIN ME is not just another discussion board. It is designed for people who actually want to find someone to do something with in real life.

💬 MEETUP ROOMS

Turn “Let’s meet sometime” into an actual plan

MEETUP takes JOIN ME one step further.

Sometimes someone replies to a post with “I’m interested!” or “Let’s meet!” — but the conversation ends there.

It can also be uncomfortable to discuss detailed plans in a public comment section.

That’s why Nunchis has Meetup Rooms.

When people connect through JOIN ME, they can continue the conversation in a dedicated meetup room and work out the details together.

You can decide when and where to meet, what to do, who is joining, and any other details needed to turn the idea into an actual meetup.

JOIN ME helps you find people.
MEETUP helps you actually meet them.

✨ KOREA VIBES

Stories about everyday life in Korea

KOREA VIBES is one of the main community spaces on Nunchis.

Share anything about your life in Korea — small everyday moments, cultural differences, funny situations, things you noticed, questions, thoughts, or experiences that don’t necessarily fit into another category.

Think of it as a casual space where people living in Korea can simply talk about life here.

☕ EXPERIENCES

Share what you’ve actually experienced in Korea

EXPERIENCES is for sharing things you have personally tried, visited, or experienced.

Restaurants, cafés, travel destinations, schools, workplaces, services, cultural activities, local experiences — anything you think might be interesting or useful to someone else.

A small experience for you could become useful information for someone who is new to Korea.

🏠 HOUSING

Finding a place to live in Korea

HOUSING is for questions, experiences, and information about finding and living in a home in Korea.

You can talk about studios, officetels, apartments, monthly rent, jeonse, deposits, moving, real estate contracts, neighborhoods, and things to watch out for when renting.

If you have lived in a particular neighborhood or have experience finding a home in Korea, share what you learned with others.

✈️ VISA

Talk about visas and staying in Korea

VISA is a community space for questions and personal experiences related to Korean visas and immigration.

You can discuss visa extensions, changing visa types, immigration-office visits, documents, and things you experienced during the process.

Visa rules and immigration procedures can change, so for important decisions, please also check RESOURCES and the official websites available through USEFUL LINKS.

📸 KOREA SNAPS

Share the Korea you see

You don’t always need to write a long post.

KOREA SNAPS is a photo-focused space where you can share moments from your life in Korea.

Food, cafés, streets, travel, scenery, everyday life, funny moments — even one simple photo is welcome.

Show other members Korea through your eyes.

💬 GENERAL

Talk about anything

If your topic doesn’t fit into one of the more specific boards, use GENERAL.

It is the main open discussion space for conversations about Korea, everyday life, or anything else you would like to talk about with other members.

❓ Q/A

Ask when you’re not sure

Living in another country means even small things can sometimes be difficult to figure out.

Ask about transportation, food, school, work, culture, daily life, or anything else you’re curious about.

Other members may already have the experience or information you need.

NEW · HOT · BEST

See what’s happening on Nunchis

NEW shows recently posted content so you can quickly see what has just been added.

HOT highlights posts that are currently getting a lot of attention or activity.

BEST helps you find popular posts and content that received a strong response from the community.

If you don’t want to browse every board individually, these sections are an easy way to discover what people are talking about.

📢 OFFICIAL UPDATES

Important official news

OFFICIAL UPDATES is where we organize important information from Korean government agencies, public organizations, immigration authorities, transportation services, and other official sources.

Changes to policies, immigration procedures, public services, transportation, and other information that may affect foreigners living in Korea will be added here.

We’ll try to make important official information easier to find and understand.

📚 RESOURCES

Making complicated information easier to understand

RESOURCES is a collection of practical guides for life in Korea.

Topics may include visas, KIIP, driver’s licenses, and other procedures that can be confusing when you encounter them for the first time.

Think of OFFICIAL UPDATES as a place for new announcements, while RESOURCES works more like a practical guidebook you can return to whenever you need help.

🔥 HOT DEALS

Deals worth knowing about

HOT DEALS is for useful discounts, promotions, events, special offers, and other opportunities that may help you save money or discover something interesting in Korea.

Found something worth sharing? Let the community know.

🕶 Things to Do

What should I do today?

Looking for something to do in Korea?

Things to Do helps you discover festivals, exhibitions, performances, activities, local events, places to visit, and more.

Browse categories such as Today, This Week, Weekend, and Events to quickly find ideas.

The difference between Things to Do and JOIN ME is simple:

Things to Do helps you decide what to do.
JOIN ME helps you find someone to do it with.

🔗 USEFUL LINKS

Useful Korean websites, all in one place

Finding the right Korean website can be surprisingly difficult, especially when you don’t know what service or organization you are supposed to search for.

USEFUL LINKS brings together websites and services that foreigners may actually need while living in Korea.

You can browse categories such as VISA, STUDY & KOREAN, WORK & MONEY, HEALTH & SAFETY, TRANSPORT, HOUSING, DAILY LIFE, and LOCAL SUPPORT, or simply use the search bar.

You’ll find services such as Hi Korea, Korea Visa Portal, TOPIK, KORAIL, Naver Map, Papago, real estate platforms, regional foreign-resident support centers, and more.

More useful services will continue to be added over time.
